An honest Lido alternative
Cheaper once you outgrow a starter plan, and it actually reconciles your bank statements and exports to QuickBooks.
Better value at real volume, and a more finished bank-statement workflow because it reconciles and exports QBO. Lido wins if you need the widest document range or SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance.
Heads up: we make SendItSheets, so we are biased. Every Lido figure below is pulled from their own site and review pages as of 2026, and we kept the parts where they win.
What Lido does well
Lido is a strong, modern extraction product, and it is genuinely broad. It reads far more than financial paperwork: invoices, receipts, and bank statements, yes, but also bills of lading, medical forms, contracts, and handwritten documents, in more or less any layout and language. It is template-free, so you do not train it on each new format, and it handles scanned and photographed files well.
On bank statements specifically, Lido markets accurate reading of formats from any institution, including credit unions and international banks, which is a real strength and not one we are going to pretend away. It is also SOC 2 Type II certified and HIPAA compliant, deletes documents automatically, and offers a non-expiring free tier of 50 pages, which is one of the more generous free offers in this category.
If your work spans logistics, healthcare, or legal documents, or you need those compliance certifications, Lido is a sensible pick and we would not argue you out of it.
Where Lido frustrates people
The complaints reviewers raise cluster around two things: the price jump and what happens after extraction.
The pricing has a cliff in the middle. Lido's Standard plan is $29 a month for 100 pages. The next step up is Scale at $7,000 a year. There is nothing in between. If you outgrow 100 pages a month but are nowhere near enterprise volume, you are stuck choosing between a plan that is too small and one that costs roughly $583 a month. That gap is exactly where a lot of bookkeepers live.
No reconciliation on bank statements. Lido pulls the transactions but does not check that the running balance adds up. On a bank statement, that is the one check that catches a missing or misread line before it reaches your books, and you are left to do it by hand.
No direct path to QuickBooks or Xero. Lido exports to Excel, Google Sheets, and CSV, but it does not push to your accounting software, so there is a spreadsheet middle step to get the data into the ledger.
Inconsistent formatting. A recurring note in reviews is that two statements from the same company can come out with columns and rows arranged differently, so you end up rearranging before the data is usable.
None of this makes Lido a bad tool. It makes it a broad extraction engine rather than a finished bank-statement-to-books workflow, and the price step is steep if you are in the middle.
What SendItSheets does well
SendItSheets is narrower than Lido on purpose. It focuses on financial documents and on the part of the job that comes after extraction: making sure the numbers are right and getting them into your books.
It checks its own math
- Balances that reconcile. The running balance is reconstructed, each transaction's sign is derived from it, and any row where the total stops matching is flagged, so a missing line gets caught, not shipped.
- Right signs automatically. Deposits and withdrawals come out correct even on ambiguous rows like "Wire Transfer", instead of a coin flip on the column.
- Multi-account statements split cleanly. Checking and savings, or business and commercial, come out as separate labeled sections.
Built for the ledger and the review
- Exports QBO for QuickBooks, plus Excel and CSV, so there is no spreadsheet detour to get into your accounting software.
- Click a transaction, see it on the statement. Every row links back to its spot on the original PDF and highlights it, so verifying a number is a click.
- Search and filter across the batch. Every transaction over an amount, everything matching a payee, or one account holder in a stack of statements.
Lido is the wider net. SendItSheets is the finished bank-statement workflow. If your documents are mostly financial, that focus is the point.

The pricing gap is the real story
At the very bottom and the very top, the two tools are comparable. The problem with Lido is the middle. There is no plan between 100 pages a month and 42,000 pages a year, so the moment your volume grows past a starter plan, the next step is a large annual commitment. SendItSheets is built for exactly that middle.
SendItSheets
Lido
To be fair to Lido, its free tier is more generous than ours, and it does not expire. If you only ever process a handful of documents, that free tier is hard to beat. The gap opens up the moment you need real, recurring volume.
Which one is right for you
SendItSheets is the better fit if you
- Process real, recurring volume and do not want the jump to a $7,000 annual plan.
- Work mostly with bank statements, invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and checks.
- Want the balances reconciled and the signs corrected, not just the transactions pulled.
- Need a QBO file to bring into QuickBooks without a spreadsheet detour.
- Like verifying against the original PDF and searching across a batch.
Lido is the better call if you
- Extract a wide range of documents beyond finance: logistics, medical, legal, handwritten.
- Work across many languages and unusual layouts.
- Need SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance to satisfy a client or an auditor.
- Only process a small, occasional volume and want a generous non-expiring free tier.
- Want scheduled workflows and an API as part of a larger automation.
A note on accuracy
Both tools read bank statements from a wide range of institutions well, including the credit unions and international formats that trip up some competitors. On raw extraction, this is a closer match than the price gap might suggest, and we are not going to claim otherwise.
The difference is what happens next. SendItSheets reconciles the balance and flags anything that does not add up, so you catch a bad line on screen instead of in your books later. The fastest way to judge either tool is to run one of your own statements through it. Ours does not ask you to sign up first, so you can see the result on your own paper in a minute.
